Ötztal summer holiday

Your Ötztal summer holiday can fulfil even your most special holiday expectations. The highest mountains, the longest roller coaster in the Alps, the largest waterfall in the Tyrol, the warmest mountain lakes, the most beautiful hiking trails, the most extraordinary thermal spa in Austria....there’s no end of adjectives to describe this wonderful place.

Of course, some think that you can only go hiking and climbing here or sit in the sunshine. It’s not true! Even if many of our guests do come for a relaxing and exciting holiday. It’s also not surprising that Marlstein is considered one of the most beautiful hiking areas in the Ötztal and Stubai valleys. We could even say that Marlstein is one of the most beautiful alpine hiking areas in the entire Tyrol, with the Faltegartenknöpfle and Pirchkogel summits, and the Knappenweg hiking trail and numbers paths up to the summits with fabulous panoramic views. And the best thing: All you have to do is go out the front door! But you don’t have to go alone. We can guide you to the most beautiful summits, show you places in the Ötztal and Stubai valleys that you will never forget. We can take you to the best mountain inns: The Feldring Alm, Balbachalm, Kühtaile or Dortmunder inns and much more.

Adventure and attractions

Don’t just come to Marlstein for the hiking! There are plenty of other summer activities for you to experience.

Our professional high-altitude training centre is ready to thrill mountain bikers and road cyclists and there’s Austria's most modern thermal spa in Längenfeld for those looking for a relaxing spa holiday. From rafting and canyoning adventures to dreamy days swimming in idyllic lakes. Interesting day trips to the eternal ice of the glaciers on the Tiefenbachferner and Rettenbachferner mountains in Sölden, to the fruit garden that is the South Tyrol (a stunning excursion over the Timmelsjoch pass) along the 60 km route from Imst to Innsbruck, the capital of the county.

Plus: We’ve got every summer sport you could wish for like tennis, horse riding, climbing, paragliding, amazing motorbike tours and much more!

TRULY SPECTACULAR NATURE AT THE VERY TOP OF TIROL

Awe-inspiring glaciers, colorful larch forests and idyllic mountain lakes - these are just a few of the many impressions that we all associate with the Ötztal: at the same time it is a landscape worth protecting that attracts myriad visitors from around the globe.

As Austria's third largest nature preserve, the ÖTZTAL NATURE PARK covers an area of about 510 square kilometers - there is no other protected area which has a larger glacier-covered surface (about 17,5%) in all of Austria. Among the characteristics are large glacier fields, natural history studies and research on high Alpine archeology. Additionally, the ÖTZTAL NATURE PARK has a lot to offer to all guests: visitors can choose from up to 18 theme hikes per week, over 15 events and lectures on current nature topics and a fun-packed child activity program.

Theme trails focusing on high Alpine archeology, glaciology or fauna and flora in the stone pine forest are freely available to all nature park "explorers" - take a closer look at it by clicking on www.naturpark-oetztal.at.

Timeout for allergic persons

There’s also something else that makes Marlstein a great place for a summer holiday:

We’re located 1,800 metres above the hustle and bustle which makes us a great place for allergy sufferers. The pollen count is very low, the air is pure, and as for dust mites....we’ve never even heard of them! Our exceptionally soothing, mild climate is also well-known for the positive effects it has on the cardiovascular system, metabolism and the immune system plus there’s the natural, healthy cuisine served in our restaurant.
